Empty Handed

So went out to a few yard sales this morning. Left with twenty dollars in my pocket and came back with... Twenty dollars in my pocket. At some there was just lots of junk, some had waaaayyy too much baby stuff for my taste and one wasn't even there. Someone had left a sign up after the sale was over. I really don't like it when people do that. I drove up and down the street a couple of times just to make sure I wasn't missing it. Oh well, perhaps I'll go visit some thrift stores this afternoon and see what I find there.

Gardenfork!

I just need to comment that Gardenfork and Real World Green are both amazing web shows/podcasts, and I urge everyone to check them out. Eric Rochow is the host and producer of these shows and a real joy to watch (and hopefully won't mind that I've blogged about these shows here). You'll learn everything from how to make chick pea burgers, to create a leaf compost, to simple ways of greening your car, kitchen and much more! Plus, they almost always work their cute labradors into each episode. Give it a try, I guarantee you'll be hooked.

Today's Finds

So I didn't have to work this morning, and had an itch to check out a few yard sales. For a grand total of $18.50 today, I was pretty happy with my finds.

This first place I went, I found this hard cover book for $2. I will gather ideas from it that I like, and then will consider selling it on half.com or Amazon.

My next yard sale netted me these two garments. A cute polka-dot dress with red tie at the empire waist for $1, and a light weight brown knitted sweater for 50 cents. Both are in great condition with no flaws that I could find. The dress pic is a little blurry because I'm still getting used to a new point and shoot camera that I bought. I wanted an alternative to always carrying my DSLR around.

I already have an event in mind that I can wear the dress to. I think it will look great with my ruby hoops, maybe some sheer tights of some sort and these awesome peep toe pumps I have that look like they are out of the 40's or 50's.

The sweater looks kind of weird here because it's still damp after being hand washed.

These two items are from my last stop of the day: A big estate sale where they were offering 25% off any purchase over $10.

This little Wade Whimsies Pinemartin is interesting. I don't collect Wade, I don't know anyone that collects Wade, and I know this one isn't going for a lot on eBay. So why did I buy it? I'm not sure. I paid 38 cents for it is all I can figure. I'm sure I'll find some use for it.

Aside from the cute clothes that I thought were a good deal, this is probably my favorite find of the day. I love pens. This is a Cross 14k gold filled Century in mint condition that I got on sale for $14.25! The same pen lists for $100 on their website. It doesn't even show ink on the ball point so it may never have even been used. Now I'm agonizing over whether to keep it or sell it. I'll think on it a few days.

I guess that's it for today. My next day off is the 4th, and I've already scouted out a few sales listed on Craigslist that I can hit up that day. If I find anything else I will post.
